I don't think there's such a thing as a snoozefest when it comes to IndyCars on a 1.5 mile oval. The only snoozefests come on the road and street courses. Regardless of what they do to the track, I'm sure the IndyCars will still be exciting as hell to watch. I was at Chicago and Kentucky this past summer...definately two of the best races I've ever been to. The Chicago race was spectacular.

Of the tracks I have been to in my lifetime Kentucky is most definitly one of my favorites. I went to the Indy race this year and the track was great there is literally not a bad seat in the house. Lets just hope Bruton and the boys don't turn one of the last interesting 1.5 milers into another snoozefest.

I think it'll be interesting to see what SMI(Speedway Motorsports, Inc.) does now that the purchase of Kentucky Speedway appears complete. For starters, unlike rival ISC(International Speedway Corporation), SMI knows how to promote events[Sonoma being the exception...the sooner they drop that track the better....] and that alone should raise expectations for this year. Like you, I hope they don't change the track into a copy of Atlanta, Charlotte or Texas; like they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

On the other hand, even with the economy as low in the doldrums as it is, I honestly believe, now that SMI owns Kentucky, if Bruton Smith & Co. does half for Kentucky what they do for the tracks they currently own, not only will be the racing get even better, but that track will be a nice gem in SMI's hat, so to speak.

BTW, Defender, hats off on your blog....it's a great blog and one I regularly read. Keep up the good work!
