Someone Who Knows What Indy Means

Filed under: The Disciple Blogs — Disciple of INDYCAR @ 10:52 pm

Conor at IndyConor Daly, the young aspiring racer who has been competing the past few years in Euro-formula series with aspirations toward Formula 1, will be in the Indianapolis 500 this May. Daly struck a deal with Foyt Racing to become Takuma Sato’s teammate at Indy. Young Conor knows what Indy means. Most Mays of his 21 years have been spent at 16th and Georgetown.

AJ ApprovesWhether he is a fit with the Foyt crew is an open question. Personnel upgrades and engineering enhancements have resulted in better days for the team. What was once thought of as a last stop before the conclusion of Indy Car careers has suddenly become a destination of sorts. Takuma Sato has been doing well, and a young American with talent fits a lot of bills.

Given the way in which competition is micromanaged by the series and partners and a foregone conclusion that the entire field of 33 will be carefully choreographed, we need all the compelling stories we can find. Conor Daly fits the criteria. It is refreshing to find someone as enthusiastic about the opportunity.

Now all we need are about a dozen more of him.

  1. The Mindy 495.5 and Indy Razing Leeeeeeeeeeege have gotten itself a new savior. Unlike Jesus Christ, this one will not be able to walk on water but will rather likely be walking on the fencing like the Son of ‘ol Flatspot did at Monaco. He has taken a leap down the ladder to race for Sammich and the Graterest Grater in Racing. I wonder if the .1rl paid Sammich in bowls of chili, piles of hamburgers, and a big ‘ol beach towel to wipe off the grease? FTG
Editor’s Note: Wow. The envy, obsession, illiteracy and immaturity is strong today. Fan enthusiasm comes in many forms, and IndyCar remains comforted in the knowledge that the most rabid (as in foaming at the mouth) fans are right on top of things. Keep watching.

  3. I would like to make an announcement. My wife has recently entered a local political race. If she wins I have decided that I will sit around all day and post ignorant and hateful stuff to your blog. Seems I might have some competition in that department but I am up to the task.

  4. While I respect Mr. Foyt for his achievements on the track, from winning four Indy 500s to winning at Daytona to winning at Le Mans to dominating in both the roadster and the rear wheel eras, I have no respect for his achievements, or lack thereof, as a team owner and he should have gotten out of this game long ago…of course, he and his inflated ego were staunch supporters of TG and his failed vision as evidenced by his blind support for the IRL and its lackluster product…I still recall the laughter in the racing community and among us fans when Big Tex bitch slapped Aire Lyendyk at Texas back in 1997. Too bad AJ’s cars, whether driven by an American, a Brit, an Asian or his own family members, consistently underperform on the track relegating his team to permanent back marker status.

    • AJ Fatburger has hit everyhing but the finishline. Including every buffet in Indy. :)
Editor’s Note: Yeah, and your abuse of alcohol is under control. LOL. Hypocrite.

    • Thank you, Neil. Real fans appreciate the fact that there are some who still have the burning desire to compete and win. And put race cars on the race track in a series that has another season scheduled and underway.

  6. (Additional off topic, barely literate nonsense from one of the handful of obsessed crappers now squatting here, living in the past and acting far more stupid than anyone over the age of 4 should)
