Milka-n It For All It’s Worth

Filed under: The Disciple Blogs — Disciple of INDYCAR @ 1:44 pm

Yesterday I predicted that the ride buying activity to come in the Indy Car Series would flip you out. It did not take long. The disgraced and often fired Robin Miller reports on the Speed TV website that Doornbos to Newman Haas Lanigan is probably official (he brings a little money), and the team has also accepted the sizeable Citgo bucks to put Milka Duno in a seat. That has come as a surprise to those who own and run D & R.

Paul Newman probably shat himself while turning in his grave. Isn’t this type of seat buying frowned upon by the cartroaches? Have they not long heaped criticism on IRL owners for doing that? Will there be a torch parade by an angry mob to NHL headquarters to express their youthful, naïve angst?

On the other hand, Milka has improved with proper coaching and she actually led more green laps than Danica in ’08. Still, Indy Racing is playing musical chairs with about 45 really good drivers and about half that many seats. That sucks.

Silly season certainly is silly!

  1. I prefer a ride buyer not push a good driver out of a seat. This isn’t the case here, it’s just a third car. It also brings much needed funding to Graham and Bobby D in all likelihood.

  2. I really do believe that Milka will surprise many this year with some respectable finishes, look for both her & Sarah too have a top 10 finish

  3. I’m pretty sure that the majority (if not all) of the 5 laps that Milka led this year were yellow flag laps. Danica led only four laps, but I think they were all green flag ones (including that one that ended with a checkered).
