A Miller Turd Toss We Hope Comes True

Filed under: The Disciple Blogs — Disciple of INDYCAR @ 2:12 am

The one recent Robin Miller rumor that would really be cool if it turns out true is a multi-year date outside Birmingham at Barber Motorsports Park for the Indy Cars. They drew thousands for a test in April, and Robin Miller claims a multi-year deal is now signed and sealed. About the only things they need are wider areas to pass, a few stands, a wider pit lane and a plan for getting traffic in and out.

BarberAnyone who goes needs to allocate a day to visit the museum. It is an amazing collection, and is getting bigger. If the IRL is getting in on the ground floor at that facility, something great is about to happen.

I know it’s not an oval, but the layout of the track lends itself to potentially really good racing. Alabama racing fans are underrated. Most people think of Talladega just down the road along with the stock car fans that crowd in twice a year.  I believe most people will be surprised once they see the support and enthusiasm some believe will happen.

The future of Indy Car gets more interesting by the day; now that Roger Penske owns Saturn could a new badge be on the way?

  1. It’s funny you hate Robin so much. From my experience he tends to be right on these things.

  2. Sometimes Robin is wrong. Sometimes he’s right. But Matt, Robin has crossed the line a few times, enough to cause him to lose his job.

As for the future of Indy Car, Barber could be a good thing. Also, I’m sure you’ve heard Danica visted Tony Stewarts shop. Defender, what’s your take on that and what it would mean if true?
Editor’s Note: I firmly believe Danica has found the right combination with Michael Andretti, and given enough time (like later this year and next season) she could regularly find her way to victory lane. In NASCAR she really would be a novelty and would fare no better than any of the other open wheel refugees seeking a fatter paycheck but falling on their faces and giving up. I believe she would be making a serious mistake unless she just wants the money or the attention.

  3. Robin has lost his job(s) because he’s more loyal to reporting than he is newspaper/ media politics. That tends to pi$$ off BOTH the a$$-kissers & the Kool-Aid drinkers 💡

Call Danica’s visits the IMG Tour… just her management company sending messages to the ICS teams she’s talking with. Secure another Motorola style contract to stay in Indycars Hopefully Danica is SMART enough NOT to bluff herself right into NASCAR! 💡 💡

    • People just do not want to believe Robin because he reports truth, not bull shit like so many others do

  6. My nephew lives in the Birmingham area and says even for the test people were talking about the Indy Car a week prior to the testing. No doubt, this is a good base and obviously the brass @ the Indy Car series agreed b/c I too heard it is a done deal! Cleveland and New Hampshire could be on the horizon as well. As far as Danica is concerned, do not rule out Chip Ganassi for a ride in 2010 and beyond.

  7. I used to work at The Indianapolis Star. Robin Miller was working for CART while The Star was paying him to report on open wheel racing. He had the biggest pr0n collection on an employer’s hard drive in the US. And he was running sports gambling/pools on an employer’s computer. And he was believed to have made more inappropriate comments to female coworkers in the history of the newspaper.

Trust me, the guy has deserved far worse than he’s received.
