Authentic Indy Car Feel Good Tale

Filed under: The Disciple Blogs — Disciple of INDYCAR @ 12:22 am

Sarah 2One of the best feel good stories of the year in Indy Car is that of Sarah Fisher. There are a lot of others as well (despite incessant nay-saying by cart-centric idiots hell bent on trying to ruin the entire sport for everyone else for no apparent reason other than their own ignorant, selfish immaturity) but Sarah’s stands out.

She put together quality sponsorship in a lousy economy and in turn makes quality showings on the oval schedule she runs. Indy Car…Sarah is yet another reason why ovals must be emphasized. Earlier this year, an associate sponsor BOUGHT her a brand new car. She has gone from driving the oldest chassis in the league to the newest, and will debut the shiny pink car at Homestead.Sarahs Miami Ride

Not only that, she has a new paint job designed toward efforts to fight breast cancer. What better reason is there to root heavily for Sarah? It is very nice marveling at the technical know-how and moxie of the Team Penskes and TCGRs of the league, but the stories that always make me stop and marvel are those written by folks like Sarah Fisher.

Go Sarah and the Dollar General team!

  1. my little man, still typing away in the basement on the computer, tssk, tssk. you know this pink car for breast cancer thing has already been done by katherine legge and dale coyne in champ car.

sorry guys, my son is a trouble maker, always spreading lies and propaganda, ever since we had tony george over for dinner one night and i caught anton and my son playing pocket pool in the washroom together.

do not forget to take the laundry out of the dryer while you are in the basement defender, and remember to fold my panties neatly!

    • how dare you call your momma an “idiot cart fan”. get out of the basement and upstairs to your room now. take each set of stairs twice as well boy, you could stand to lose some weight. when you kiss momma goodnite son, remember, she is your mom, not your blow-up doll, no tongue.

      Papa Defnder

PS – Anton called son, and before he sells his house, he wants to see you in his downstairs “oval office”. he says to stop off at the local target store, and pick up some lubricant? he says a door needs some lubing before entering it, i don’t know son, i think the guy is a bit looney myself. your son chris paff called as well, says he wants you to stop playing with his lady friend, and said she is a real “doll” with dangly bits? i think your son may be gay.

      • defedner, i am very upset at the fact you are the victim of off topic name calling by idiots stuck in 1995! your mom, my sister, is a saint, and is not her fault she raised a genius for a son that inspires such hatred among the ignorant. they really need to find yourself a woman soon, as it can’t be healthy to sit in their parents basement all day looking at nude pictures of Katherine Legge 24/7. they will continue slapping their genitals silly if you keep this up magnificent work!

      • sis, don’t worry about my brilliant son, he still enjoys toying with the deranged. defender knows they do not know where they will find his next sexual encounter with a man. they do not metion women, so you know they play for the “other” team. maybe i will call old man dolan, and see whether he would allow defender back as as the only one who is thought provoking.

  2. Hah, Hah! Great comment, Momma Defender. The only selfish, immature, ignorant person in this is Defender themselves. Watch them come back with insults and puerile attempts to attack us. Whenever I think of you, Defender, I think of a quote by Lao Tse:

“A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool speaks, because he has to say something.” Guess which part of that quote applies to you, Defender. Definitely not the former.

Editor’s note: Something that would be mighty swell would be the contribution of thoughts directly related to the topics of the blog and not the person who writes it. It rarely gets more needlessly tedious than having to wade through nonsense to try to find something worthwhile someone may have to offer. I would prefer you save your quaint little speech and instead discuss racing. Is there any morsel of that concept with which your arms are having difficulty wrapping themselves around?

  3. hey defedner,

as mamma defender so kindly pointed out to her wackjob of a son, why is what sarah fisher doing newsworthy to you now? why when champ car had the dale coyne “warriors in pink” car that katherine legge drove for breast cancer, was it not newsworthy then fatnut? the fact that it did not fit your agenda have anything to with it? why bring any attention to a champ car story, right defender? but now it is okay, it is righteous, because it is an irl car that is doing it. i think you like sticking up for sarah, because the two of you share the same waist size. back to your regular trolls and BS.

like your comment bluefalcon about a wiseman and a fool. the fool part fits defender to a tee.

Editor’s note: Sigh. I wish the most immature of the cart apologists would more fully evolve. I understand that takes millions of years though so I am not optimistic that will happen in our lifetime. Wonder what ‘ol Katherine is up to these days? Sarah has actually made things happen for herself.

    • What is Legge up to? She’s racing in DTM. You know, a form of motorsport with multiple manufacturers and big crowds on TV and in the stands internationally. Meanwhile, Sarah Fisher is sponsored by a dollar store and races a partial series in the 4th biggest racing series in America.

But hey, she’s a hero to a couple yahoos in Indianapolis, AMRITE
Editor’s note: Good for her and thanks for the information. Kindly let us know when more than just a couple of members of some fringe fan group here in the good old U.S. of A. actually end up caring.

      Comment by lulzasaurus — October 4, 2009 @ 12:13 am | Reply

      • I doubt she cares if the fans of a fast collapsing style of motorsport in the US know or care what she’s doing so long as her checks cash.
Editor’s note: Me neither. So why would anyone bring her up in a blog about Sarah Fisher? Why not just wish Sarah Fisher, who IS driving Indy Cars and helping the fight against breast cancer, the best of luck?

        Comment by lulzasaurus — October 4, 2009 @ 1:35 pm

    • Dear Defender,

Please don’t take offense here, but you complain almost daily about CART-this, CART-that, and yet, you cannot proceed through even one paragraph without mentioning the same, in every column. You have nothing but contempt for CART/CC, yes, the all-lowercase-spelling, the sarcasm…I get it. News flash: CART is dead, gone, buried, decomposing in the graveyard of failed racing series. If I want to read about it, I can always go to some idiotic CART-centric site, but it’s almost 2010, I’m an Indy racing fan and I am, not interested in living in the past. You’re a smart guy and I really enjoy your blog, near-daily CART name-checking notwithstanding. Is there any chance that you will ever just let it go?

      Thanks,

      Olvidado
Editor’s note: With all due respect I believe your skin is probably too thin. I let it go in 1996. My problem are its fringe ‘fans’ who keep trying to shove the rotted corpse into my living space. The remaining handful of that bunch are obviously mentally and emotionally challenged, as evidenced by a litany of stupidity in the comments section that continue to foul this blog space. I will, however, continue to publish as much of them as are palatable if only to expose their ignorance and illiteracy then laugh at them. The problem is not nor ever has been the quality of cart’s on-track product. I believe we all enjoyed it. My problem for the past fifteen years is the vulgar behavior of a fringe group who have the audacity to refer to themselves as racing fans in conjunction with the disingenuous arrogance of those who operated the series. Any non-hypocrites who want to see great Indy Car racing need to be working in unison to make it even greater. Now that Anton has been cast aside, this is a perfect chance for the people who screwed it up completely twice not to take strike three. Would you not agree?

      Comment by olvidado — October 4, 2009 @ 1:44 am | Reply

      • Well, no offense taken, and I must admit, that’s a fair enough assessment. I should develop a thicker skin about things, especially now that I have read the remainder of the comments after I had posted in this thread. I am sorry that things can descend to such a level in the name of disagreement. The people that bring the hate 24/7 are never going to move on to the future, so I am happy to leave the past to them. I remember you had mentioned evolution a while back——I forget which blog entry, but to evolve or stagnate? No-brainer to me…

Now, back to topic: Yes, I do indeed agree. Not being privvy to anything related to Tony George, I cannot comment on him one way or the other, but I do hope that the Indy Championship Series finds its focus. Fortunately, I do not depend on DirecTV to access Versus,so I don’t have to worry about missing anything. I have expressed my feelings to the (current) powers that be in the IRL via ‘snail mail’ in the hopes that someone might actually read it as opposed to just hitting the ‘delete’ button. I also would love to see fewer ‘street festivals’ and a return to tracks such as Fontana and MIS, as my favorite oval racing is on shallow-banked superspeedways. I am sure thousands of others have expressed similar viewpoints, but I am thankful for the chance to do likewise here, at a place people actually read, regardless of whether or not they are IRL/ICS fans.

I will close by saying that even as they complain about your preferences and expression thereof, the ‘haters’ sure seem awfully concerned about IRL/ICS business, considering how much they claim to hate it.

        Cheers!

  4. Defender – I must say I agree with Olvidado. The Sarah Fisher story is a nice story. And yes, there are other good stories within IRL. But you are begging for the “fringe cart fans” to attack you when you cannot get past the second sentence and insist on saying things like “despite incessant nay-saying by cart-centric idiots hell bent on trying to ruin the entire sport for everyone else for no apparent reason other than their own ignorant, selfish immaturity.” Maybe if you stopped stirring the pot, these “fringe fans” would leave you alone. But the name-calling from both sides gets really old.
Editor’s note: Agreed. So perhaps one day the cart fringe will stop their pointless jihad, grow up, and then we can all discuss racing like actual racing fans. I would most certainly welcome that day.

  5. Defender, I’m sure you’re enjoying collecting and tracing IP addresses from these nitwits.
Editor’s note: Usually I do not bother. I let their illiteracy and poor sportsmanship speak for itself. Here is an example of what an actual racing fan might offer commentary about: ‘What Sarah Fisher is doing is nothing short of incredible. She is overcoming odds and is a great story. Way to go, Sarah…and go get ’em at Homestead.’ But no. What we’ll get is more illiterate and unrelated meandering diversions such as Katherine Legge.

  6. depend-ser, you talk about the arrogance, stupidity, vulagrity, etc;, of the CART fans, yet why do we not educate your blog readers on your past.

I believe you are a guy some have stupidly claimed but never proven had the balls to have a name of alex hoppes, on forums, im reference to alex zanardi and his tragic accident. he is said to have had the nerve to openly ask for any pictures of the accident, that depicted parts of alex’s legs flying in the air.

here is a guy who some of my stupid friends mistakenly claimed but never proved openly cheered for the death of paul newman, and when it happened, made idiotic and juvenile comments about it.

here is a guy who my stupid friends claim but never proved mocked the deaths of tony bettenhausen and greg moore, while guys like wrenna and dana were being killed in his series of choice, and he preached of their virtues (two guys who never should have been in a race car to beging with, their blood on tony george’s hands).

he went to the camp ‘n’ brew at indy, with a shirt, in front of children, with a huge arrow pointing to his shrivelled genitals.

on dolan’s forum, he literally wished for death upon a fellow forum member, and insulted him for his military background. there is much more i could go on about.

So that, my frends, is why I choose to act like a cart-loving douchebag and make an ass of myself as I attempt to ruin a perfectly good, racing-centric blog for no apparent reason. In short, I am a loser.

I beleive Defedner is a class A1 asshole, and that is why my handful of friends don’t respect you and continually pull this kind of immature nonsense on the Internet instead of having any sort of life. this is on top of all the lies and BS I think you have posted over the years, that have driven me crazy to the point of this kind of crap. you are just an old man, who claims to be an important person with a big job, who merely enjoys coming out on the net, yanking people’s chains and exposing imself for the moron that he is, and I worship you and follow every word you write like an insane teenaged girl with a crush. i would not bet against you being a pedophile, or having restraining orders aginst you by women. keep up the good work fatty.

Editor’s note: Your honor…regarding my charges about the immaturity of a handful of delinquents stuck in the last century…I rest my case.

  7. I really do not understand the enormous amount of hate that the CARToids have towards Sarah Fisher. Could it be that she is an American, that English is not her second language? Maybe the fact that she actually held the track record at Winchester, in A SPRINT CAR. Something I am sure that “Flying” Ryan, Dario, or Scott would not have the balls to even attempt. Hell, these guys are afraid to race a dirt modified at Eldora, against a Drag racer. Maybe some of the more learned posters can reply and explain this to me.

    Comment by Chris Lukens — October 4, 2009 @ 7:56 pm | Reply

    • They’re afraid? Are they even invited? I’m not sure Tony cares about getting some guys in from a series no one who would go to Eldora watches. I mean, its not like he’s trying to get Sarah on the phone either….

  8. Wow Jay, you sure said a lot there in that grammatically challenged rant. Care to back it up with any proof or links? What’s funny is instead of deleting this illiteracy, Defender is actually exposing it. Keep it coming though, it’s entertaining if nothing else.
