IZOD Indy Car Series…There is a LITTLE Activity This Week.

Filed under: The Disciple Blogs — Disciple of INDYCAR @ 11:53 am

Hundreds of racing types are in Indianapolis this week to get ready for the new season. Helio and the rest of us saw his mug on the Borg Warner for the third time (he complained about receding hairline), the drivers took physicals and lots of meetings are being held.

Kris Nissen, who is in charge of motorsports at the VW/Audi Group (that includes Porsche) indicated that those manufacturers were taking a pass on the IZOD Indy Car Series for now. Many idiots immediately and gleefully positioned that action as the next sign of impending doom for the series. Nissen, who actually resides on the planet earth and possesses occasionally firing synapses, says it is mostly a matter of waiting until the car market in the United States stabilizes. Many think the reluctance of manufacturers is based on not wanting to have their arses handed to them by Honda, which would happen for a while.

Speaking of Honda, all the costs associated with leasing their motors has decreased, including one-off attempts for Indianapolis. Between that and the league welfare TEAM program, folks ought to see a net increase of $125K additional dollars. Whether it makes a difference in car counts or not remains to be seen.

Where will the Indy Cars be in action in early May? Kentucky. The 3rd and 4th. Tests. Why not use Indianapolis? It’s MAY.

HVM Racing has a location on their web site where people can go to suggest the next generation Indy Car, and that idea is commendable. I did not bother going there until my curiosity got the best of me, knowing full well the site would be flooded by the foolish ideas of cart clingers lingering in the last century. Sure enough the cacophony of ‘DP-01’ and ‘mid-90s cart’ nonsense was as shrill and desperate as usual. I wish most of those types of respondents would move forward with their pathetic lives instead of backward. They and their counterproductive ideas are bad for the sport. HVM is trying to move forward, why try and ruin the intent of their query?

  1. Hey, Defender…some good news for a change regarding competition…an end to fuel saving settings and more boost for overtaking or defending your position…hey, that’s an idea from Champ Car!!! At least Townshend Bell will have a ride at the 500 this year…

  2. Not that you would ever give CART/ChampCar any credit for anything. Clearly, there are ignorant people on both sides of the isle. Your continued puerile efforts to belittle CART/ChampCar are immature and juvenile. Oh, wait, that’s you to a T!

Editor’s Note: What do your observations have to do with the actual topic? Please try to keep comments confined to the topic. When I went to the site in question, that’s what I saw….a whole lot of DP-01 and mid-90’s cart fantasy. That is stupid. That is well beyond stupid. These types of people need to A. Get a life, and B. Orient themselves into this century. Those types of observations have nothing to do with cart. Just its most head-in-the-sand, idiotic apologists.
