Need IZOD Indy Car Racing? Head South. See You There!

Filed under: The Disciple Blogs — Disciple of INDYCAR @ 11:12 am

It’s an IZOD Indy Car race weekend in the state of Alabama. Four series take to the track this weekend, including some exiled names from champcar’s last stand racing in the Lights cars. Fans who like lots of passing may be disappointed. Personally, I hope it’s not interrupted by crashes caused by those who run out of talent quickly. Dale Coyne now understands Milka Duno is no Justin Wilson.

Who will win the IZOD Indy Car event? Lots of people are high on Will Power but if I was a betting man there is no way I would bet against Scott Dixon on this particular track. He has pretty much mastered it. Given the unpredictability of actually racing on the track however, it could be anyone’s race depending on pit strategy, getting caught up in something strange or rain. Forecasts I have seen make the weekend out to be a chamber of commerce brochure.

Kudos to Indy Car and to the Barber folks for creating a brand new event that is not a temporary circuit and has no baggage. Everyone should be pleased that the park may be overrun with racing fans. Next job: Get additional challenging ovals onto the schedule.
